What Is Healing?

That is a very interesting and complex question. The way we like to define healing is the return of an animal/plant/human or system to complete balance physically, emotionally, energetically, and spiritually.

When we work with humans and their companion animals in a communication session, we are facilitating the healing of a relationship through increasing the understanding between all involved. The word “system” in the above definition of healing includes relationship.

We’d like to talk about healing in the more conventional areas that most associate with the word “healing” – the physical, emotional, and energetic components of overall health/balance. The premise of the following discussion is simple: physical and emotional imbalances can begin with an imbalance in the energetic component of the human/plant/animal or system.

Why do we believe this to be true? We work with many different healing modalities in our business. One of these modalities is Healing Touch for Animals (HTA)/Komitor Healing Method. We have used HTA with our companion animals in addition to those of our clients. We have observed more rapid healing after surgery, quicker recovery from anesthesia, stimulation of digestion in beginning stages of colic, lowering of blood pressure, and changes in behavior. HTA and HTA practitioners have documented these and other positive results over and over again. How can that be?

In an HTA treatment session, we work with bringing the animal back into energetic balance through work with the major and minor energy centers and the energetic structure that connects and provides power to the whole energetic system. Once we have achieved overall balance, we focus in on specific trouble areas such as a wound, an arthritic joint, the digestive system, or a specific behavior that is unacceptable to the human. In effect, we “set the stage” for healing through balancing, and then work with specific issues. For example, when our Greyhound Annie had her front leg amputated, we used HTA before and after surgery to clear her system of anesthesia, and we also used it to speed up the wound healing. When our dog Maggie Mae got ready to pass over, we did a clearing and balancing beforehand, and her passing was very peaceful. When my horse Rusty has gastric distress, I use HTA to help his digestive system work more efficiently, thereby easing the discomfort and helping food to pass through normally.

How does bringing the animal back into balance energetically translate into physical healing? HTA developed a great chart that shows how this works. Basically, when the energetic body is balanced, the physical body responds with the relaxation response – release of endorphins. This in turn causes increased blood flow to the cells, which in turn provides more oxygen to the cells and removes wastes more efficiently. There are other things that happen, but the bottom line is that the immune system is supported, and the body is more prepared to heal.

The tools used by HTA are simple – the hands are used to conduct energy, essential oils may be used to work with specific issues such as trauma (emotional or physical), pain, anxiety, and tuning forks may be used to help balance the energy system. The hands are conduits that bring the Divine healing energy through the practitioner to the animal.

We have found that energetic healing, and specifically the use of HTA, has been of great benefit to our clients. Of course, it’s important to note that we do not work with an animal presenting a physical issue UNLESS THAT ANIMAL HAS FIRST BEEN SEEN BY A VET. Why is that? Simply, energetic healing is not a substitute for good veterinary care. Rather, it is a COMPLIMENTARY modality, to be used in conjunction with traditional care. If you break your arm, have it set by the doctor, and do your physical therapy. While doing your PT, get treatment from a Healing Touch, Reiki, or other energy practitioner to allow your arm to heal faster and better. That is the most efficient way to allow your body to heal. The same applies with our animals.
